Shikaras on Dal Lake with snow-covered mountains behind Srinagar

India · October 2026

Kashmir

3 Days · 4 Nights

Four nights in Srinagar is enough for the lake to become familiar and too short for a rushed circuit of the valley. This departure stays with the water: a houseboat or a room on the Dal, a shikara that is not a five-minute photo stop, and the Mughal gardens when the season still has them open.

Highlights

  • Srinagar base, on or beside Dal Lake
  • A long shikara outing rather than a token ride
  • Nishat or Shalimar, if the gardens are open for the dates
  • An evening in the old city for saffron, walnuts, and shawls

Good to know

  • Gulmarg can be added only if the group accepts a long day in a car. It is not part of the base plan.
  • Houseboat categories vary sharply. The quote will name the boat, not a star rating.
  • October water is cold in the morning. The plan keeps the open-boat time for the warmer part of the day.

An indicative flow

How the days usually sit.

This is the rhythm we recommend. It is not a contract. Weather, opening hours, and your flights will move a day, and the final plan is written after we speak.

  1. Arrival

    Onto the lake

Transfer from Sheikh ul-Alam Airport to the houseboat or hotel. If the light is still good, the first shikara goes out the same evening. If the flight is late, the water waits until morning.

  2. Day on land

    Gardens and the old city

Nishat Bagh or Shalimar Bagh, then a walk through the old city. We do not stack Gulmarg onto this day. The drive eats the trip, and this departure is built for the lake.

  3. Morning water

    A slow last look

A free morning on the water or at Hazratbal. Departure is timed to the flight, with the houseboat checkout handled before anyone is asked to hurry.
